About the museum
Since 1994 the Heimatstube has been housed in the old village school in the center of Liepgarten, a place on the Uecker river just outside Ueckermünde. On around 100 square meters it shows how the village developed and which trades shaped it alongside agriculture: the brickworks and barge shipping.
One room is devoted to rural life and includes an authentic harvest crown (Erntekrone). A second room brings together evidence of the village's private and commercial development, including a historic kitchen setup that shows a piece of everyday life in earlier times. On presentation days, old craft techniques are demonstrated, such as the lever-operated log lifter (Hebelade) and work at the field forge.
