About the museum
The Museum of Old Meissen Porcelain opened in July 1990 and is housed on the upper floors of the Haus der Kunst in Remshalden-Grunbach, which is also an art and antiques center. More than 80 display cases once held around 600 exhibits from the era of the Meissen porcelain manufactory.
Most of the collection comes from the private property of Kurt Krockenberger, the initiator and owner of the house. It ranges from rarities from the manufactory's early days around 1720 to rare pieces from the Art Nouveau period up to 1920. According to press reports on the website, the collection was also shown at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. The museum is currently temporarily closed for renovation work.
