About the museum

The Museum Remshalden opened in September 2009 in the district of Grunbach, right next to the church. The municipality and the museum association run it together; the association collects and preserves evidence of local history in trust, researches it and exhibits it.

On the ground floor, the permanent exhibition offers a cross-section of the municipality's economic history, including the Blauhemdenfärberei (blue-shirt dye works) as the oldest industrial business, the tractor maker Holder, the "Friedel-Brause" soft drink, and the Klingele paper mills. A separate section is devoted to the aircraft designer Ernst Heinkel (1888–1958), born in Grunbach. It sheds light on his inventions as well as his life and his role as a Wehrwirtschaftsführer (defense economy leader) close to the regime in the Third Reich.

Since April 2018, the attic under the high roof of the former "Obere Kelter" (Upper Wine Press House) has presented the history of the five formerly independent municipalities of Buoch, Geradstetten, Grunbach, Hebsack and Rohrbronn up to about 1900; QR codes and tablets available for loan provide more in-depth information. The offer is supplemented by special exhibitions, lectures, local history walks and the "Junges Museum" (Young Museum) for children and schools.
