About the museum

The Heimatstube goes back to a local history collection set up in 1972 by Paul Hekeler, honorary citizen of Endersbach. It is housed in the village's old schoolhouse and reopened in November 2011 after renovation work.

The classic core collection on former living and working life was moved in 2008 to the neighbouring Heimatmuseum Pflaster 14. The special collections remained in the Heimatstube: historic bonnets from the 17th to the 20th century, including a series of royal morning bonnets, and memorabilia of Queen Olga of Württemberg – both donations from Endersbach's honorary citizen Baroness Zündt von Kentzingen (1874–1965). In addition there are paintings by the Endersbach painters Karl Wilhelm Bauerle, who became known as court painter to Queen Victoria of Britain, and Jakob Seybold, as well as exhibits on church and school history. A new addition to the Bauerle collection is the painting "Abendfrieden", which shows an English country church around 1900.

Archaeology in Endersbach was added as a further theme. It is based essentially on the collection of Hermann Schlipf and shows finds from Celtic, Roman and Germanic times from the Endersbach area. The Heimatstube is run by the town of Weinstadt.
