About the museum

The Heimatmuseum Bodenfelde is located in one of the oldest half-timbered houses in the village on Blumenstraße. The Heimat- und Museumsverein des Fleckens Bodenfelde restored large parts of the building itself and furnished it as a museum.

The association collects, restores and preserves old tools, furniture and household items, showing what country life may have looked like in earlier times. Furnished rooms such as a kitchen from the post-war years give impressions of everyday life for past generations. In the so-called alcove room, products of the former glassworks in the Amelith district are on display. The museum also has an extensive collection of exhibits on agricultural history and individual crafts of the 19th and 20th centuries. They give insights into the everyday and social history of the Solling and the Upper Weser region.

Alongside the permanent collection, the association organises changing exhibitions and an events programme with lectures, storytelling afternoons, film evenings in the “Museumskino” and wine tastings. For some years now the Bodenfelde registry office has also used the historic house for civil wedding ceremonies.
