Kunst geht fremd und macht blau

Seventeen museums from Lower Franconia are exchanging objects on the theme of blue. At the Heimatmuseum Ebern, the work “Blù” by Günter Dollhopf from the Kunsthalle Schweinfurt is on display as a guest.

About the museum

The Heimatmuseum Ebern is run by the Bürgerverein Ebern 1897 e.V. and stands directly beside the Grauturm (Grey Tower), the town’s landmark.

The collection shows how people lived in the Haßberge hills, more precisely in the Baunach and Weisach valleys. Around 3500 objects come from Ebern and the surrounding area, most of them from the period between 1850 and 1920. The holdings consist mainly of donations, supplemented by loans and a few purchases.

Themes include domestic life and households, textiles, crafts such as cooper (Büttner), potter (Häfner) and shoemaker, agriculture, and church, school and clubs. Particularly vivid are a schoolroom from the 1940s and a historic kitchen. The house sees itself as a museum you can touch.
