About the museum

The collection goes back to Heinz Braunreuther, a native of Burgpreppach, who gathered the objects over about 25 years. On the upper floor of the town hall, a complete apartment furnished in the style of the 1950s was set up; four rooms with original wall finish, furnishings, and utility and decorative objects conveyed the living atmosphere of the postwar years. On the first floor, a corner grocery shop (Tante-Emma-Laden) from around 1950 could be viewed, complemented by a room with original office furnishings and bookkeeping machines of a savings bank (Sparkasse).

According to the local heritage and culture association, the museum is now shown in reduced form on a temporary basis in the rooms of the former Poppenhäuser Bierstube. The market town of Burgpreppach plans to show the collection again in a new location and in a different form; the former Raiffeisen storehouse is to be renovated and converted into a museum by the municipality, so that the pieces can be presented appropriately.
