About the museum
The Heimatmuseum Harthausen in the Winterlingen district of Harthausen opened on October 10, 1987, and is housed in the village town hall. It grew out of an originally private collection, supplemented by holdings of the municipality, and has gradually expanded through donations and loans.
The museum sees itself as a village museum and a meeting place with the past. It displays objects from farming, crafts and household life, along with fittings from the old school, the church and the former town hall. Photos and documents from the 19th century record the era of emigration.
Further topics include finds from the Jurassic sea, old coins, precision scales and pictures of the construction of the Albstollen. The aim is to make the simple life of earlier centuries understandable and to strengthen a sense of local attachment.
