About the museum
The Heimatstube Bleyen opened on November 2, 1996, in a half-timbered house owned by the municipality. It brings back a piece of the history of this Oderbruch village, which lies between the dikes and was long shaped by fishermen and farmers.
What began as a single Heimatstube has since grown into a whole house with six thematically furnished rooms. A tour leads through the washhouse, the parlor, the workshop, the kitchen-living room, the children's room, and the fishermen's room, showing how people in the Oderbruch lived at different times.
A separate photo exhibition documents the flood of the century in July 1997 and its consequences for the municipality. The Heimatstube also keeps written and photographic material on the districts of Bleyen, the town of Küstrin, and Fort Gorgast for interested visitors.
