About the museum
The Heimatstube belongs to the Gertrud Wöhler Foundation, which was established during their lifetimes by General (ret.) Otto Wöhler and his wife Gertrud. The entire farm complex of the Deiken-Wöhler farmstead on Heinrich-Wöhler-Straße is referred to as the Heimatstube. After the founder's death in 2005, work began there in December of that year with a first nativity scene exhibition. Management and operations have since been carried out by volunteers.
Most of the exhibition is in the stables: agricultural tools from 1900 to 1970, a horse stable with a re-created farmhand's room, and a utility room for washing, ironing, sewing, butchering and preserving food. In the former pigsty, a benefactor set up a beekeeper's room, a wool room and a bog section.
In the living area, the large entrance hall, the fireplace hall, the bedroom and the best parlor with its furniture are part of the permanent exhibition, along with documents and objects about the founding family's life. The mayor's room and the Biedermeier room are particularly worth seeing.
