About the museum
The Heimatstube Hettingen was set up in 1975 in rooms of the Hettingen town hall. The mayor at the time, Karl Knühl, played a major part in this. It finally gave the village a place where the everyday objects collected by the Heimatverein Hettingen could be stored and shown.
The town hall on Römerkastellstraße was originally the village schoolhouse, built in 1774 from blue limestone quarried in the Großer Wald. An extension with two more classrooms was added around 1900.
The collection includes old furnishings, craft tools, documents and printed matter. The association, founded in 1968, describes its three rooms as overcrowded and would like more space for the exhibition.
