About the museum
The Narrenringstube opened in October 1989 in a hall of the tithe barn of the former Electorate of Mainz district administration (Amtskellerei) in Buchen. This fulfilled a long-held wish of the Narrenring Main-Neckar and its then president, Horst Walter. The project was made possible above all by the town of Buchen; the overall concept came from Jürgen Blatz of Hettingen.
The exhibition documents the carnival landscape of the eastern Odenwald, the Bauland, and the Tauber valley, which lies between the Rhineland carnival to the north and the Alemannic Fasnet to the south. On display are traditional figures such as the Huddelbätze, the Strohbär, the Müller, and the Buchemer Blecker from Buchen, the Äschesäck from Hettingen, the Erbsenstrohbären from Osterburken, and the Faschebouze from Lauda.
