About the museum
The Heimatstube was set up in the 1970s by the working group "Junge Historiker" (Young Historians) and numerous helpers. It is housed in a nearly 300-year-old half-timbered house on Graunplatz, a former farmstead in the town center of Wahrenbrück.
The collection shows the simple life of earlier times. On display are tools from the everyday life of the Ackerbürger (townspeople who also farmed), a kitchen furnished between 1880 and 1950, a parlor from the 19th century, historical washing and ironing equipment, and a schoolroom from the mid-20th century. There are also small goods from a former textile shop, children's musical instruments and toys, a nature room with local plants, animals and minerals, a room for the composer Carl Heinrich Graun, a GDR room and a workshop.
The house is looked after by the Heimatverein Wahrenbrück e.V. (local heritage association).
