About the museum
The farm museum grew out of a request: in 1996 a third-grade class from the Klietz primary school wanted to know how people used to live on a farm and visited the Läufer family's farm. This gave rise to the idea of collecting old household goods, tools and machinery in order to show them to pupils in future. The first exhibition opened in June 1998, followed in autumn by a first farm festival featuring traditional crafts.
In the years that followed, the museum became a place of learning above all for schoolchildren from Klietz and the surrounding area: here people bake, churn butter, hammer nails, spin and weave, make ropes and hear Low German. In 2001 the local heritage association "De Dörplüe" was founded, and the rooms and exhibits were handed over to it for use. In 2002 a spinning room was added, as were the annual mowing demonstration and the harvest festival.
In 2003 a small kitchen, a baking oven, a common room and a toilet were created in the stable building; in 2004 the exhibition space was expanded, and later a room on the period from 1945 to 1990 was added. The farm museum is a member of the Museum Association of Saxony-Anhalt.
