About the museum
The painter and art teacher Margret Knoop-Schellbach (1913–2004) designed the church in Lobenhausen near Körle in 1981 as a total work of art: she created the stained-glass windows, decorated the interior with paintings and carved the portal. In gratitude, the municipality of Körle decided in 1984 to set up a museum for her work, which opened in 1985.
On June 16, 2013, the museum reopened in new premises on Waldstraße in Lobenhausen. It shows works of all kinds and materials: woodcarvings, oil paintings, copper and silver repoussé work, watercolors, textile paintings, embroidery, dolls and much more, mostly on Christian themes. The collection is spread across several rooms by theme and conveys the breadth of a long artistic life.
According to the municipality, the museum is open daily from 10:00 to about 18:00. The Körle municipal administration answers questions.
