About the museum
The Museum an der Kreuzkirche opened on August 16, 2015. It was founded by the Preungesheim Culture and History Association together with the Protestant Kreuzgemeinde (Kreuz parish). It uses the converted large room on the ground floor of the parsonage built in 1742 next to the church.
In five stations it tells the history of Preungesheim from the Middle Ages to the Second World War. Topics include medieval Preungesheim, matters of faith and war, the Teutonic Order in the village, the period from the founding of the German Empire in 1871 to the war, and the change from village to district in the 19th century.
On display are archaeological finds, church equipment, historical photographs, banners and objects from the history of the former prison. The association continues to collect photographs, documents and eyewitness accounts.
