About the museum
In Wildentierbach, a district of Niederstetten, there is a well-preserved fortified church complex with a walled cemetery. A 19th-century detention cell has survived in the massive gate tower.
The cell was opened to the public as a tiny museum in 1985. Its original 19th-century fittings give visitors an insight into the everyday life of village residents.
The fortified church, first mentioned in 999, can also be visited by arrangement. The present Protestant Marienkirche was built around 1500 on the remains of the former Wildentierbach castle.
