About the museum
In 1993 an old farm barn in Hollfeld's Judengasse, between the town hall and the parish church, was converted into the "Museumsscheune in der Fränkischen Schweiz" (Barn Museum of Franconian Switzerland). It documents how the barren Jura landscape was used for agriculture in the past, and shows old crafts of the Hollfeld region as well as farm equipment.
One focus is village life in earlier times: administrative buildings and forms of rule, municipal administration, church and school, the poorhouse, village craftsmen such as the blacksmith, wheelwright and shoemaker, and the evening spinning rooms (Rockenstuben). Since 2011 the barn has belonged to the association "Museen der Fränkischen Schweiz" (Museums of Franconian Switzerland).
Due to inventory work (2013) and a planned redesign, the house has not been regularly open to the public for some time.
