About the museum
The Pfarrmuseum Flintsbach (parish museum) was founded in 1984 and reopened in 2001 under the Freundeskreis Pfarrmuseum Flintsbach e.V. (friends' association). It is located in the parish hall on the Kirchplatz and shows evidence of parish history in the Inn Valley on about 100 square meters. According to the parish, it is the only independent parish museum in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.
The collection includes liturgical vestments, figures, paintings, banners, books, reliquaries, candlesticks and other objects of popular piety from the parish. Represented are, among others, the painters Georg Zelger (1730–1785) and Sebastian Rechenauer (1761–1835), as well as the chest makers Matthias and Anton Perthaler.
Besides the church holdings, the museum is devoted to regional history: on display are finds from the medieval monasteries on the nearby Petersberg, finds from an Iron Age settlement from around 1000 BC, material on the Counts of Falkenstein, and geological specimens.
