Stallhofermuseum

About the museum

Josef Stallhofer (1908–1993) was a painter and honorary citizen of the municipality of Hausham. After the war, he restored the frescoes in the Antiquarium of the Munich Residenz, and he created frescoes and altarpieces of his own, including a fresco in the Hausham town hall. He left the municipality landscape paintings, portraits, shooting guild panels (Schützenscheiben), sketches, and designs.

His estate is shown in its own rooms on the third floor of the Gasthof Staudenhäusl in Agatharied. For many years, a volunteer looked after the exhibition. Because of the Corona pandemic, it remained closed for more than two years and was reopened on International Museum Day, May 15, 2022, after renovation and redesign. Alongside the works, a short autobiography and a photo overview are on display; the exhibition is continually updated.
