About the museum
The pilgrimage site of Weihenlinden goes back to a vow made by the parish of Högling during the hard times of the Swedish Wars and the plague of 1632/34. The parish pledged to build a chapel at a place with linden trees where, according to tradition, a spring rose. Since then, believers have made pilgrimages to this shrine of the Holy Trinity and the Mother of God; the church was completed in 1657.
The Holy Trinity pilgrimage church is a Baroque building that appears to have five aisles but in fact has three main aisles with side ambulatories; three life-size figures of the Trinity stand at the high altar.
A small museum is set up on the three upper floors above the sacristy. It shows parts of the church treasury, including liturgical vessels and vestments, as well as votive paintings, figures and paintings from the church's holdings, mostly from the 17th and 18th centuries.
