About the museum
The Weingalerie WAJOS opened in 1992 in the 1830 building of the Walter Oster winery in Neef an der Mosel. The focus is on paintings by the painter Alfred Sichtig (1914–1990), who stayed at the winery during the summer months from 1986 to 1990. His pictures deal with themes such as Greek mythology, religious motifs and romantic moods; he also painted the children of the house owner.
The gallery also shows portraits by Karl Götze and combines painting with antiques from the Mosel and Eifel regions. The house also includes a small collection of liqueurs and wines whose bottle labels were designed by painters and printmakers from the gallery; some of the images used for them are still available as poster prints.
