About the museum
The Archaeological Museum of Argos has been housed since the early 1960s in a complex consisting of the historic residence of General Dimitrios Kallergis from 1830 and a modern building. After extensive works to upgrade the building and re-display the collections, the museum reopened to the public in June 2026.
The new permanent exhibition is structured in nine thematic sections. With finds dating from the Neolithic period, the 6th millennium BC, to Late Antiquity, the 6th century AD, aspects of the history and culture of ancient Argos are presented. The museum uses multimedia material and offers educational programmes.
