About the museum
The Archaeological Museum of Sikyon is housed in part of a Roman bath (thermae), north of the Hellenistic and Roman agora of the ancient city. In 1935 Anastasios Orlandos excavated the monumental complex and restored four of its rooms, whose walls survived to a height of four metres, so that they could function as a museum.
In the open-air area, architectural members, grave stelae and inscribed bases are displayed. Room A houses architectural members of public buildings, sections of statues, inscriptions and a mosaic floor from a house of the classical period. Room B is devoted to sculpture, with statuettes, votive reliefs and statues from the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Room C presents grave goods and funerary markers from the cemeteries of Sikyon, figurines and small objects from the Pitsa cave, lamps, metalwork and coins.
