About the museum
The mansion was built in the 17th–18th century and is a characteristic example of a two-storey residence of Patmos’s prosperous urban class. Its unique features are the integrated chapel, the “abatharos” (a wooden structure with painted and carved decoration that serves as storage space and as a partition) and the two windows in the Gothic style.
Besides the household furnishings, the interior houses a small archaeological collection, plans and documents, which help visitors learn about the history of the island from prehistoric to more recent times and about the way of life of the residents of the mansions.
