About the museum
The Corfu Annex of the National Gallery was inaugurated in 1993 in Kato Korakiana, about 14 kilometres from the town of Corfu, on the road to Kassiopi and Dasia. It is housed in two renovated historic buildings, the Kastelino and the Kasteleto.
The permanent exhibition of the annex traced the development of modern Greek painting, from the early post-Byzantine years to contemporary works. It included sections on Theotokopoulos and Byzantine art, the Ionian School, and the 19th and 20th centuries. For now, only temporary exhibitions are shown at the annex, and the permanent exhibition will open again after the second half of 2027.
Educational programmes for all levels of education run daily at the annex. The head of the annex is the curator Marina Papasotiriou.
