About the museum
The Historical Folklore House-Museum of Aigaleo was founded in 2009 by Giannis Perakis and was created from his personal collection. It operates with its own resources and is housed in two old refugee houses on Dimarchiou Street.
The site comprises eight rooms and a courtyard with a garden and a traditional well. On display are a loom, workshops for sewing, shoemaking and carpentry, a forge, a wood-fired oven, farm tools such as ploughs, household and kitchen utensils, a traditional fireplace and a wine press.
The collection also includes old weapons, books, postcards from 1900, photographs, vinyl records, gramophones, radios and a barrel organ. The museum also holds personal objects of the late Metropolitan of Ilia, Antonios.
