About the museum
The Mykonos Folklore Museum belongs to the Mykonos Folklore Collection, a charitable foundation established in 1958. The main collection is housed in the Kastro (old town), a few metres from the Paraportiani, in a two-storey captain’s house.
Its rooms display antiques, Byzantine icons, folk pottery, embroidery and textiles, locks and keys, measuring instruments, as well as a typical bedroom and a fully equipped Mykonian kitchen. A separate room is dedicated to Mykonos and the sea, with old maps, ship models and navigational instruments. The museum also has a library and an archive with manuscripts, photographs and maps.
The Agricultural Museum in the Boni windmill and Lena’s House, an urban house of the 19th century, also belong to the same foundation.
