About the museum
The Georgios Drosinis Museum is located in the centre of Kifisia and is housed in the villa “Amarylis”, the house where the poet lived in the last years of his life. The villa took its name from the central heroine of one of his first and most popular works.
The museum was founded in 1997 to preserve and present the many-sided work of Georgios Drosinis (1859–1951). Drosinis, together with Kostis Palamas and Nikolaos Kampas, was one of the pioneers of the New Athenian School, the literary generation of the 1880s that renewed Greek literature and fought for the prevalence of the demotic language.
In the display cases and rooms of the house, personal objects of the poet are exhibited, such as a secretaire, photographs, original printed matter with his contributions and portraits, as well as figures of Drosinis and of characters from his works.
