About the museum
The museum “The World of Ouzo” operates inside the distillery of Isidoros Arvanitis Plomari Ouzo, in the olive grove of Kampos Plagias, near Plomari on Lesbos. Plomari Ouzo has been produced there for more than 130 years.
The visit is a guided tour lasting 30–40 minutes. Visitors hear the story of ouzo, learn about the herbs and fruits of Lesbos, such as the Lisvori aniseed grown on the company’s estates, and see the modern bottling process at first hand. The distillery also operates 18 handmade copper stills, with which traditional distillation continues.
The museum includes a collection of historical objects showing the development of the spirits industry in Plomari, from the first bottle of Plomari Ouzo by Isidoros Arvanitis to authentic tools of the past. The tour ends with a tasting.
