About the museum
The Bourazani Environmental Park is located in the Konitsa area, near the River Aoos and the Greek–Albanian border. It is an educational wildlife park where visitors tour by bus or in their own car, accompanied by staff, and see deer, mouflon, wild boar, Cretan wild goats (kri-kri) and fallow deer at close quarters.
During the visit, visitors learn about the geography and history of the Konitsa basin, the national forests, the Natura 2000 areas and the Greek–Albanian border. In an environmental education building equipped with audiovisual media, the park’s veterinarian presents the behaviour and life cycle of the animals.
The Natural History Museum of the park presents, with photographs, the species of plants, orchids, butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, birds and dragonflies of the area, as well as the fish of the River Aoos. According to the museum, the area has been recorded with 51 species of orchids, 113 species of butterflies and 172 species of birds. A water mill on the site is used in educational programmes.
