About the museum
The Nafplio annex of the War Museum was founded in 1988 and is housed in the building that accommodated the newly founded Evelpidon Military Academy (1828–1834). The permanent exhibition covers the period from the Greek Revolution of 1821 to the German invasion of Greece and the Battle of Crete in 1941 and is arranged in seven rooms on two floors.
On the first floor are presented the creation of the Evelpidon Military Academy with engravings and paintings, the Greek Revolution with relics, weapons, costumes and works of art, the Macedonian Struggle with photographs, weapons, paintings, traditional costumes and a uniform of an Evelpidon cadet of the period, and the Balkan Wars of 1912–1913. The second floor is devoted to the Greco-Italian War of 1940–1941, to the history of the Evelpidon Military Academy with uniforms, photographs and a graduation certificate of 1939, and to the German invasion and the Battle of Crete in 1941.
