About the museum
The Atomenergetikai Múzeum (Museum of Nuclear Energy), unique in Europe, has operated as a national specialist museum since 2010. Its two-thousand-square-metre exhibition space is divided into four thematic units: on one side are gift and promotional objects linked to the history of the power plant, decorations, and instruments grouped by specialism; on the other side are the large equipment, the service devices and the simulation computer that was in operation in the 1990s.
Among the special items of the collection are the first example of the Pille dosimeter, which was used in space and in the nuclear power plant, the 4-kilogram on-duty engineer’s telephone, the schematic wall commissioned in 1979, and the Faun tractor used to transport the reactor vessels.
The museum has moved from the technical area of the power plant to the building at Gesztenyés utca 6/B in Paks, and for the time being it can only be visited on weekdays at a previously arranged time. Admission is free.
