About the museum
The listed folk building opened its doors in 1983. In the former folk dwelling, a memorial house was set up for Benedek Péter (1889–1984), a naive painter born in the village; since then the building has operated as a memorial house and partly as a folk house museum. The garden house with two sections, built between 1860 and 1880, largely preserves traces of 19th-century folk material and farming culture. The exhibition includes an exhibition on Benedek Péter and an ethnographic presentation of objects from Uszód. Benedek Péter worked as a farmer and received no art training; he depicted the everyday and festive events of peasant life in oil, watercolour and pastel paintings.
