About the museum
Lussonium was a station on the Danube limes of the Roman Empire in Pannonia. The late Roman military fort stands at Paks-Dunakömlőd, on top of the Bottyán-sánc, which rises above a former Danube channel, and is the only restored Roman-era ruin garden in Tolna County.
The site has been known since the 19th century; archaeological research, which began in 1969, has been continuous since 1987. Excavations uncovered military and civilian buildings. The ruin garden is cared for by the Paksi Városi Múzeum.
