About the museum
The Kalocsai Képtár (Kalocsa Picture Gallery) opened on 24 June 2017, during the Night of the Museums, in the former synagogue and library building, with a permanent exhibition of the painter Vinczellér Imre. The artist was born in Baja in 1953, studied at the Magyar Képzőművészeti Főiskola (Hungarian College of Fine Arts), and lives in Budapest and Kalocsa. In his painting he recalls the cultural-historical memories of his family in surrealistic form; drawing on his musical studies, he has also made intensely coloured adaptations painted to contemporary music.
