About the museum
The Lovasberény Village Protection Civic Circle (Falukör) was founded in 1993 on the initiative of local young people, to preserve the ethnographic and local historical values of the village. The association has operated a village heritage house since 1995. The house at Hunyadi utca 6 was bought in 1998 by Dr. Csikváry István, a veterinarian born in Lovasberény; local craftsmen, students and teachers restored it. In 2008, on his 75th birthday, he gave ownership of the house to the municipality and the right of use to the Falukör, and it has borne his name ever since.
The living section of the 40-metre-long peasant house contains a 19th-century room interior, a kitchen and a local history exhibition; the veranda and the carriage shed hold mainly farming tools. Of note are the pottery collection from Csákvár and Upper Hungary (Felvidék), the spinning and textile-making tools, the carved furniture, peasant clothing, old school objects, prayer books and the local collection of documents. The local history room presents the famous natives of Lovasberény and their works.
