About the museum
The Emlékpont (Memorial Point) is the first of its kind in Hungary, and perhaps in Europe, to present, through the history of one town and the fate of the people living there, the communist era from 1945 to 1990: the Soviet occupation and the period of the one-party state. The exhibition opened in 2006 on about 500 square metres in nine thematic rooms. Through interviews, photographs, documentary films and objects, visitors can learn, among other things, about the dismantling of the tanya (farmstead) system and about the Fehér Gárda (White Guard) resistance group. The Emlékpont is run by the Tornyai János Múzeum, Könyvtár és Művelődési Központ (Tornyai János Museum, Library and Cultural Centre).
