About the museum

The memorial site presents material memorabilia of water-management activity in Újszeged. Among the indoor exhibitions is a navvy exhibition. The open-air display includes the important auxiliary outbuildings of the dyke-keepers’ houses – storehouse, workers’ hostel, stable, pigsty, granary – which now serve other functions.

On an area of about 1,100 m², more than 70 machines, appliances, tools, work implements and water-lifting devices are displayed; they played an important role in building and maintaining water-management structures and in flood and inland-water protection work. The objects can be explored with a guided tour, outdoors, in a green setting.
