About the museum
The Fertőszéplaki Tájházak (village heritage houses of Fertőszéplak) consist of five peasant houses built in the second half of the 19th century in the village on the shore of Lake Fertő, near Fertőd. The buildings have preserved the structure of the village’s scattered development and represent the local folk architecture. Their style is called peasant Baroque; on the porch between the brick pillars there are side windows, through which the parents could observe the visits of suitors.
The furnished exhibition rooms present the history and folk culture of the village. The village heritage houses are run by the Porpáczy Aladár ÁMK (Porpáczy Aladár General Cultural Centre).
