About the museum
The Tájház operates in a peasant-baroque house built of quarry stone at the beginning of the 19th century. The local history collection, founded by the municipality in 1986, was assembled from donations by residents. Local historian Pacsuné Fodor Sára played a major role in establishing it; she worked at the institution from its opening until her death, and in 2006 the house was named after her.
The permanent exhibition offers a taste of the industrial past of Várpalota and its surroundings. In the large room (nagyszoba), a memorial room for Krúdy Gyula and Molnár Mária has been set up. The building also currently houses the Molnár Mária exhibition, which recalls the life of the nurse born in Várpalota.
