About the museum
The Hajdúböszörményi Tájházak (village heritage houses of Hajdúböszörmény) preserve the memories of folk architecture. The complex includes six Great Plain houses and service buildings; the five peasant farmsteads, consisting of residential houses with porches and hipped saddle roofs, and farm buildings, were built at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The houses were renovated in the 1970s. In the complex, which operates as an open-air museum, the oven, the open hearth, the furnishings and the exhibited objects recall the way of life of the period and the folk architecture typical of the region.
