About the museum
The Szoboszlói Gazdaház (Szoboszló Farmhouse) is a folk monument building from the early 19th century. Its furnishings show how a minor noble family once lived and with which everyday objects.
The Czeglédy family, who had the house built, played an important role in the life of Hajdúszoboszló: from among its members came the last főkapitány (chief captain) of the “tizedes város” (“town of tenths”), who became the first mayor of the town after the dissolution of the Hajdú District (Hajdúkerület).
The listed house is opened to participants during the organisers' smallholder programmes, such as demonstrations of old work and farming and the preparation of traditional dishes, by prior registration.
