About the museum
The Hosszúhetény Glass Exhibition, opened in 2008, serves a dual purpose. On the one hand, it presents the history of the forest glass-melting workshops and glassworks settlements of the Eastern Mecsek; on the other, the contemporary glass art from the Pécs Glass Meetings (Pécsi Üveges Találkozók) held in the 1980s and 1990s.
The exhibition was made possible through the cooperation of many private individuals and civic associations, the Nemes János Művelődési Központ (cultural centre) and the Hosszúhetény municipal government. One of the originators of the glass museum was the glass artist Jegenyés János.
