Permanent exhibition of the oeuvre of Schöffer Miklós (Nicolas Schöffer), born in Kalocsa and a pioneer of cybernetic art, in the artist’s family house.

Opening hoursAdmission HUF 2,000

About the museum

Schöffer Miklós, known internationally as Nicolas Schöffer, donated material presenting his complete oeuvre to his home town in 1979. The town bought the family’s former house and converted it for museum purposes; the Schöffer Museum opened there in November 1980. The material was selected together with the artist’s Hungarian pupil and collaborator, the sculptor Dargay Lajos, who led the museum for three decades. In 1994 the building was extended with a new room; alongside the Schöffer Archívum (Schöffer Archive), the artist’s widow established a French-language library. Since 2012 it has operated as the Nicolas Schöffer Gyűjtemény (Nicolas Schöffer Collection).
