About the museum
The house belongs to the so-called partos houses: the residential building was built on a mound so that floods caused by the proximity of the Danube would not destroy it. The adobe walls kept the warmth in winter and gave coolness in summer; a cross on the reed-roofed chimney proclaimed the residents’ piety. Such peasant houses usually had three or four rooms; the family used the best room (tiszta szoba) only on holidays or for a guest arriving from afar. Today the house is run by the Viski Károly Múzeum.
