About the museum
The Kis-Balaton House stands beside the road linking Zalavár and Zalaszabar, at the edge of the closed nature conservation area of the Kis-Balaton Water Protection System. The house also presents the historical and ethnographic values of the region, so a chapel, a Cyril and Methodius memorial column and an archaeological excavation can also be seen nearby. The exhibition presents the role of the Kis-Balaton in protecting the water quality of Lake Balaton, the wildlife of the Kis-Balaton, the reed-based way of life, the world of Fekete István's novel Tüskevár and the medieval history of Zalavár.
