About the museum
Latinovits Zoltán, the great and tragically fated figure of Hungarian theatre, rests in the cemetery of Balatonszemes; since 4 June 1976 admirers have commemorated him at his grave with ribbons in the national colours and flowers. The Latinovits Zoltán Emlékmúzeum (Latinovits Zoltán Memorial Museum) was installed in the main-road wing of the Mayor's Office, and its exhibition was built from the holdings of the Országos Színháztörténeti Intézet és Múzeum (National Theatre History Institute and Museum).
The intimate exhibition evokes the outstanding stages of the actor-king's life with personal objects, Szemes memorabilia, photographs, writings and other documents. In the Rose Garden, on the way towards the jetty, stands the statue of Latinovits by Melocco Miklós.
