About the museum
The Matyó Múzeum opened its doors in 1953 in the 19th-century building of the former Korona Szálló (Korona Hotel), which from the middle to the end of the last century was also the headquarters of the Matyó Háziipari Szövetkezet (Matyó Home Industry Cooperative). In 1964 it moved into the side wing of the Művelődési Ház (Cultural Centre), and in 2005 it returned to its original location. In 2006 it received the title “Év Múzeuma” (Museum of the Year).
