About the museum
The heritage house was built in 1883 by S. Nagy Tamás, a middle-sized landowner farming 70–80 cadastral holds (kataszteri hold), on the family’s pigsty garden, where a stable and a few farm buildings already stood. The size, floor plan and refined external forms of the house, and the furnishing of its living rooms, reflect the traditions of minor-noble house building and domestic life in Mezőcsát.
The former farmyard buildings surrounding the house also evoke the world of farming. The heritage house is a listed monument and a museum venue of public interest; it is also included in the database of the Magyarországi Tájházak Központi Igazgatósága (Central Directorate of Hungarian Heritage Houses).
